Update on Sherwood

Sherwood has been growing and blooming like crazy! This month Sherwood has:

1. Gained at least 2 pounds (more likely 3 or 4).
2. Out grown the 0-3 month clothes and some of his 3-6 month clothes.
3. Started pulling his owl off of his bouncer and throwing it on the floor. He finds it funny for me to put it back on his bouncer and then for him to throw it back off. When he is in the bouncer, so that I can get things done, this is the game we play.
4. Sleep for an 8 hour stretch of time. This has been a God-send!
5. Roll around. He easily rolls from his back to his front. He is capable of rolling from his stomach to his back but for some reason he does not do it very often. It seems to still be a bit of a challenge for him to wrap his brain around.
6. Get into a crawling position and make crawling movements. He doesn't go anywhere but he lifts his head high, gets his arms and knees in the right position, and starts moving like he's about to crawl.
7. Sit up for a few minutes at a time on his own. He still has a bit of troubles falling forward but he likes to sit on my lap and hold himself up.
8. Play in his "exersaucer"/jumper. He isn't sure if he likes it or not, though.
9. String a few syllables together. He still is not making any sense, even in baby speak. But he does put some syllables together as well as saying things like "ah."
10. He is also talking really loud. He hasn't figured out that he doesn't have to yell to talk.
11. Playing in the bath water. He has finally figured out that kicking his feet and splashing mommy is a fun thing to do.
12. Recognizing familiar faces. We were at a birthday party yesterday and it was obvious the people that he was used to seeing and the ones that he did not see very often. The ones that he was familiar with he gave giant smiles to. He also is starting to get more nervous when I hand him over to someone, making sure that I am still nearby (unless it is one of those people he is familiar with).
13. He is also on a strict schedule. He lets me know when I forget to feed him on time. His body has acclimated to the schedule. There are times when he doesn't follow it like clockwork because Aaron and I messed the schedule up, but he always brings himself back to the schedule.
14. Sherwood loves Elmo! He likes parts of Sesame Street. We have watched it a couple of times. But he likes Elmo most of all.
15. A few months ago I bought Sherwood a soft book to help with his teething. This week he discovered how much he likes that book as well as one of his other toys. Now he lays on the floor or in his swing playing with his toys. He loves "reading" his book and even fell asleep in his swing one day with his book open on his tummy, as though he had gotten too tired to read another word.
16. Trying to grab our food, not just from our hands or plates but from the containers they are in. He is not very interested in his own food (other than his bottle) though.
17. He has gotten teeth on the top of his mouth (canines). They haven't come all the way in but they are easy to feel. Its kinda weird since these are not supposed to come in first and I cannot feel any of the other teeth. But he is definitely teething.
18. He does a better job of burping himself than when we try to burp him.
19. He is fascinated with his hands and plays with his feet constantly. He has also figured out how to take off his socks and put them other places.
20. Sherwood loves the feel of different fabrics. If he can get his hands on his clothes, his burp cloths, our clothes, my hair (not a fabric but he likes the texture), etc. he will, and he does not like to let go. He also loves to hug his monkey "lovey" over anything else.

We are proud of our little Sherwood and loving watching him develop into the person God created him to be. Its been a quick 5 months. He is a very independent baby but he does like attention. We are very blessed to have him in our lives. :)

Meanwhile, baby brother/sister is 17 and a half weeks old. He/she is squirming more and more. It is still gentle movements and often feels like butterflies but I know it is the baby this time where as with Sherwood I wasn't sure. I am growing faster but that is normal, I suppose. I have not gained any weight yet though. All my symptoms are increased this time around but that is probably simply because I never completely got over the last pregnancy. We have a doctor's appointment (with the doc that delivered Sherwood) this Friday and then on the 15th we will find out the gender of the baby. Aaron and I are both very excited about that. We have a girls name (from when we were expecting Sherwood) and may have a boys name, but we are still debating it. We are very excited to welcome our second addition to the family. Hopefully the two kids will be great friends.

That's my update on our little family. Hope it finds you doing well!
